Hello all

Since I can't afford it right now, the last day of this server will be 4th of april 2009.
I've informed the hosting company about this decision as well.
I'll try to reopen it on my own connection as soon as possible but it
might take some months. I'd first have to find some sort of machine to run it on, since I don't want to use
my private PC for it.
So try to check in on www.onlineboxing.net once in a while, to see if it's reoppened.
Thanks for playing this game until now, it's been fun. Hope to see you all again in the future.

That sux Mikkel!! If you need money u should go back to charging a surtain fee monthly but dont kill the game. I was going to make my return next month.

P.s we all need to pich in with donations, dont let the game die.....

Okay, fair enough, we get the point Mikkel. How much $ you need?

My bank charges me for sending money from Bolivia abroad US$60, just the fee. Maybe there is another way to do it.

Im paying about $200 a month now. I just had a chat with my hosting company and they are offering me a virtual server for 45 a month.
Virtual server is not as good but I think it could do the job.
45 aint much but I want to keep my bank account completely out of this no matter the amount.

So if we have 9 players paying $5 a month we are saved. Iam in, I would pay a year up front. Who else?
New players shouldnt have to pay it will scare them off. IMO older players can carry the costs.

Boon, Fatny, Vargas, Rocky, that crazy german guy Redneck, Trpche, Profs, Ken Norton and Judah?

Maybe we can host the server in Bolivia?

$200 a month out of your personal pocket is quite a bit to fork over for no return. Completely understandable that you want to stop the bloodletting.

Maybe there's some other shared load paradigm's out there that could be copied to keep the game alive. The 3d tank game bzflag for example has a completely decentralized set up where interested users host their own servers with a central piece serving only to list the hosts and manage user accounts. You've already got some code dedicated to users running their own servers so it may doable without a monumental effort.

Anyway. It's been fun ride. Thanks Mikkel for the great game.

We've been scared of this day for years now.
It's finally here and im sad to see this, but i have no problem with paying like $10 a month and i dnt even play anymore..

A dedicated server would be a great idea and you could use a free forum such as SMF to list what servers are active etc.

- Status: Retired for now. Logs on every now and then just to troll.

- OB Class: A+++++ Elite and yes you got it right a FIVE STAR Elite.

- Goals: Been there, seen that, done it all so none other than reaching 1000 fights (on an alt) with above 90% win percentage I have been hunting after ever since joining OB2D.

- Titles won: too many to remember

- Title defenses: too many to remember

- Best win streak 132 wins in a row in total.

- Style: Very technical when needed to. Other than that force ko for the win!

- Signature Punch: The Rocky Marciano combo (now also available without french fries).

- Signature Taunt: Letting opponent recover back to full healt before KOing him for good.

- Weakness: Fatny, the king of OB2D

- Career highlights: Been there and done it all but yes there is one little thing that rises above all titles and such: making Reaper quit after I tkoed him 16 times in a row all inside first two rounds. We were supposed to box 100 times

- Quotes: "I just TKoed you 16 times in a row Reaper. What's the matter? Can not make is past first two rounds? Did I make you quit? Why so silent all of sudden? Oh I just made you STFU "

- Stupid nickname given by other players: Mini Fatny.

- Words of wisdom: Styles make fights. Sometimes even HOF caliber fighters lose to inferior boxers due to this fact. Everyone has their rythm and once you get inside that rythm, you will make life hell for that person (in the ring).

- PS. All signatures are stupid.
